They were instructed not to expect anything on that particular day, but thanks to their newborn daughter, Lucy, a Queensland couple were given a remarkably unusual surprise.
With the arrival of their mother, father, and newborn on August 16, this family from southwest Queensland has taken birthday celebrations to a whole new level.
Lucy Marie Perkins wasn’t due until the following week, but she wound up being a surprise birthday gift for Tom and Caitlin.

According to statistics, there is a one in 48 million chance that a child will share their parents’ birthday.
The mystery is heightened by the fact that Caitlin and Tom were born 50 minutes apart on the same day in 1986. The couple claims that they learned about this odd truth when they first met at a college dance.
While Lucy’s due date was unexpected, there was obviously talk about it in the closing weeks, according to obstetrician Dr. Brad Robinson.
The mother, Caitlin, was having none of his claims that he had provoked the couple into inducing labor on the 16th.
“Any day but the sixteenth,” she said.

The parents, who live in Dirranbandi, around 700 kilometers south of Brisbane, expressed their extreme excitement at having a healthy child.
Tom declared that people “usually fairly decently” gave gifts.
Ms. Perkins continued, “I was the only one who delivered a gift this year.”
We’ll probably hold a big party when we’re sixty and she’s thirty.”
